THUMB ARTHRITIS
Thumb arthritis is a common condition that causes sharp pain to the base of the thumb with gripping and thumb use.
People often have problems gripping objects and pain with activities like opening jar.

Rest, ice and anti-inflammatories
Thumb bracing
Steroid injection
Operative treatment options:
Thumb CMC arthroplasty (bone excision and suspension)
Surgery is excellent at relieving pain regaining use of the thumb.
